Single Media Template
Media Templates are a Pro feature only.
What it's for: Displaying individual attachment pages - dedicated pages for images, PDFs, videos, and other media files uploaded to your site
When it's used: When someone clicks on an attachment link, visits an attachment URL directly, or lands on individual media file pages through search engines or direct links
What you can design: Attachment-specific layouts - image galleries with metadata, document viewers, video players, download links, or whatever presentation suits different file types
Appears when: Any individual WordPress attachment page is visited
Examples of when this template appears:
- Someone clicks on an image from your media library and views its dedicated page.
- That's your Attachment template.
- Or when someone visits a direct link to a PDF attachment like
/attachment/annual-report-2024/- they see your Attachment template.
What dynamic data is available:
You have access to the current attachment's complete data and metadata
- file name and title
- file description and caption
- file type and format
- file size and dimensions (for images)
- upload date and author
- file URL and download link
- EXIF data (for images)
- parent post/page information
You can also query related attachments, create conditional layouts based on file type (image vs PDF vs video), and add advanced file management features. Learn more about using dynamic data →
What you control:
Everything on individual attachment pages - media display, file information, download options, navigation between attachments, metadata presentation. You design the complete experience for people viewing your media files.
Doesn't affect:
- Attachments embedded in posts/pages - those display within their parent content
- Media library admin pages - those use WordPress admin interfaces
- Other content types - posts, pages, and archives use their specific templates
Template Priority: 20
This template has default priority 20 in Builderius template hierarchy. It will override general templates like All Singulars (90) or Entire Website (100) when specifically targeting attachment pages.
Note: When you design a page or post directly (without using templates), that design always wins regardless of priority numbers. Learn more about designing pages directly →
