Single Post Template
What it's for: Displaying individual blog posts (post_type='post' only) - your actual blog articles and news posts
When it's used: When someone clicks on a blog post title, visits a direct link to a blog article, or lands on any individual blog post page from search engines or social media
What you can design: The complete layout for how blog posts appear - the article header, content area, author bio, related posts, comments section, or whatever elements you want for your blog content
Appears when: Any content published as WordPress Posts is visited
Examples of when this template appears:
- Someone clicks "Read More" on your blog homepage and goes to the full article.
- That's your Single Post template.
- Or when someone shares a link to your latest blog post on social media - visitors see your Single Post template.
What dynamic data is available:
You have access to the current blog post's complete data
- title
- content
- publication date
- author information
- featured image
- categories
- tags
- custom fields (ACF/MetaBox)
- metadata
You can also query related posts, author details, comments, and taxonomy information all within the context of that specific post. Learn more about using dynamic data →
What you control:
Everything on individual blog post pages - header, content presentation, sidebar elements, related post suggestions, comment forms. You design the entire experience for people reading your blog articles.
Doesn't affect:
- Static pages (About, Contact) - those use Page templates
- Custom post types (Products, Events) - those use Singular templates
- Your blog's main page, category pages, or search results - those need Archive templates
Template Priority: 20
This template has default priority 20 in Builderius template hierarchy. It will override templates with higher numbers (like All Singulars at 90, or Entire Website at 100) but gives way to more specific templates with lower numbers.
Note: When you design a page or post directly (without using templates), that design always wins regardless of priority numbers. Learn more about designing pages directly →
